About MVTV
|
Any resident of the Martha’s Vineyard community, year-round or seasonal, is welcome to become a member and submit a program for air on MVTV’s Channel 13. Shows may be of any length or topic.
Shows appearing on Channel 13 are the property of the station members (or “producers”) that officially submitted them for air. These shows are created in a number of ways. While many programs have been shot and edited by MVTV station members using the station’s equipment, some shows are produced using privately-owned equipment. Other shows are made off-island and are sponsored by MVTV station members who have obtained permission to put the program on the air.
While the possibilities for show topics may be endless, programs containing commercial programming or advertising, libelous or slanderous material, obscene material, any unauthorized use of copyrighted material or invasion of privacy, or any material that violates FCC regulations and/or violates local, state or federal law are prohibited. For more information about program content rules, please see page 13 of the MVTV Producers’ Handbook, available for Web viewing in the “downloads” section of this Website.
Occasionally, the MVTV staff will work with station members to provide televised coverage of major community events such as the MVAS Agricultural Fair and the Martha’s Vineyard vs. Nantucket football game, but these types of productions are done in the spirit of producer training and community outreach. In general, MVTV does not produce or control the content of its television programming aside from the government meetings that appear on Government Access Channel 15.
If you have questions or comments about a program you saw while watching Channel 13, or if you have questions about getting your show on the air, please do not hesitate to contact MVTV at (508) 696-9760 or via email at mvtv@mvtv.org for more information.
